So, I know that I am probably overextending my social media self, but from here on out, my “personal” posts (about family, the wedding, my hikes, etc.) can be found on Greene Adventures, a brand new family blog that Jeff and I launched today to coincide with the one-month countdown to our wedding.
Like my Facebook and Twitter feeds, I like to post different content to different places, to suit each audience. So this blog will revert back to pretty much a “work” related blog — techie, library, and research type stuff. My food posts will remain on our food blog, and stuff about my personal life will go on the family blog. Now, if I have some sort of techie or data-related topic pertaining to a personal activity or project, I may do a little cross-posting (i.e., website, database, software reviews, etc.).
Way back when, I used to actually run separate professional and personal blogs, but got so bad at maintaining each that I thought I’d stand a better chance if I combined them. Well, that theory didn’t quite pan out… I still get quite lax in my blogging. But, I have a blogging cohort now with Jeff, who writes for our food and family blogs. So that just leaves me on the hot seat for my professional blog.
So, if you’re into outdoorsy stuff like hiking and camping, or you’re actually interested in my personal life and family, hop on over for a Green Adventure. If libraries, data, research, or web technology are your thing, stay right here.
Greene Adventures is built on the new 2.8 version of WordPress. So far, I like it a lot (especially the handy improved drag-and-drop AJAX functionality for adding widgets), but I’ll do a full write up on 2.8 after I spend a bit more time with it. And I want to test out the compatility with the themes and plugins used on my two 2.7 version blogs.
