I am Teaching Three Genealogy Classes at the TxSGS Conference in November

TxSGS 2018 Family History Conference

In six weeks, I return to teach at one of my favorite genealogy conferences. The Texas State Genealogical Society (TxSGS) is participating in the celebration of the 300th anniversary of the founding of San Antonio, Texas by holding its annual family history conference there.

The Conference

The conference takes place Friday, November 2 through Sunday, November 4, 2018, in San Antonio, at the Omni San Antonio at the Colonnade.

Registration is still open.

Book your hotel room by October 12th to take advantage of the discounted conference rate.

My Presentations

My sessions include a mix of Hispanic research and technology tools.

Getting the Most Out of Evernote for Genealogy Research

  • Time: 5:00 p.m.

Using a Common U.S. Source to Build an Immigrant Story

Immigrant Aurelia Compean’s 1963 obituary reads, “Matriarch Dies at 105; 21 Children.” Extended family knew little about the family history when asked in 2003. This case study demonstrates how to dissect an obituary to investigate each clue, the records and strategies used, and an analysis of the evidence discovered.
