Information about the family histories of Colleen (Robledo) Greene
I grew up thinking that none of my ancestors served in the American Civil War, since all known lines immigrated after the war. What a pleasant recent discovery to learn that my 2nd great grandfather, Mexican-born Francisco Jimenez [Jimenes] (1841-1911), fought with the First New Mexico Cavalry in the Civil War.
My first discovery for the Manuel Nieto Project. Identifying Don Manuel Nieto’s birthplace in Spanish-ruled Mexico makes it very highly unlikely that my family is descended from him. It is more likely we may be related to him, sharing a common ancestor.

My great grandmother Sarah Kennedy Flanagan has been extremely difficult to research, mainly due to her children being orphaned at a young age, and her children being split up and lost to each other. Yet even the records I have been able to find offer conflicting information. I also have not identified a single other descendant who is actively researching Sarah or Sarah’s line, with whom I could collaborate on this tough woman.
