I am Teaching on Mexican Church Parish Records & Civil Registrations at the SCGS Genealogy Jamboree 2017

SCGS Genealogy Jamboree 2017

Are you looking to learn more about working with the two main “Go-To” record types for researching Mexican genealogy? Do you help patrons or clients of Mexican descent? Frustrated because you don’t know Spanish, so you think you can’t get very far with Mexican family history?

Then join me at the 48th Annual Southern California Genealogy Jamboree!

About Jamboree

The Southern California Genealogy Jamboree is hosted each June in Burbank, California, by the Southern California Genealogical Society (SCGS).

The conference includes speakers from all over the country, including leading experts from different areas of specialization. A key distinguishing feature of this conference is the extra add-on “DNA Day” each year that focuses exclusively on DNA for family history—taking place this year on Thursday, June 8th.

Those who are just starting out in researching their family history, as well as veterans who want to further develop their methodology will find the conference well worth attending.

About My Class

Digging Deeper into Mexican Church & Civil Registration Records (SA013)

The long history of formalized record keeping in New Spain and Mexico provides a wealth of information for researching Mexican ancestors. Church records date back to the early Spanish Colonial Era, and civil registrations went into effect shortly after Mexican Independence. Learn how to find and analyze Mexico civil and church registration collections to build out your Mexican family history, and how even a non-Spanish speaker can be successful at this research.

  • Date & Time: Saturday, June 10, 2017 (10:00am – 11:00am)
  • Target Audience: Those who have already identified their Mexican ancestors’ hometown.

  1. Do you do a lot of webinars? If so I would very much be interested in them. I was wondering if they are accessable on the web?
